Miscellany Monday {2}

1. I may or may not have changed my mind about my feelings toward summer since my last Miscellany Monday post. It is so. dang. hot! And I sweat like a man (thanks for those genes, Dad), so it really isn’t pretty. I am really trying to live in the moment and remember how much I longed for summer to be here. But it’s so hard not to get excited about my favorite season coming up, especially when Target has already had back-to-school signs up for a while and schools here won’t start for another 6 or 7 weeks! Craaaazy.

2. Chris and I watched the movie 2012 last night, rented from the library. I really like John Cusack, Amanda Peet, and Danny Glover. But that movie was so horrible! I was laughing at how ridiculous it was – and it was sooo long! We were about 2 and half hours in and I told Chris that I had to stay up just to see how the stupid thing ended – I had too much invested in the movie! haha Do yourself a favor – don’t ever rent it.

3. So, one of the many reasons I’m excited to live back in CT is that we will be “close” to Trader Joe’s (about an hour away). However, it just dawned on me yesterday that Chipotle is on the same road! Blissssssss!

If you haven’t had Chipotle, you haven’t lived. I’m just sayin’. There are going to be a lot of road-trips to Warwick, RI, in my future. :)

4. Last thing - my sister has a summer job catering this summer and I just had to share this: she worked a wedding this weekend (in CT) for the daughter of the guy who invented motion sensor lights. The champagne for the toasts? $37,000 (Don Perignon). The tip for the wait-staff? $100 each – for all 67 of them. Oh, and the cost of the wedding itself?

A cool $2 million.

Pick yourself up off the floor now. :)

Happy Monday!

  1. I adore Chipotle. That's one chain that I'd be happy to see come to the QCA. Mmmm..... I'm hungry just thinking about it.

  2. thanks for the movie review..i WAS thinking of watching it but now i wont waste my time :)

    motion lights....why didn't i think of that???

  3. That is some wedding. Crazy!!

I am laughing at your review for 2012. Honestly, I thought the same thing! I mean, there are no huge ships being built right now? And how many times can a vehicle, or a plane, or a camper outrun the cracking earth? Or a pyroclastic cloud?

    Great Miscellany Monday.

  4. Oh, and one more thing -- Chipotle is a staple in my home. There's one about 12 miles from us. Yum, yum, yum. :)

  5. I hate sweating like a man! HALOL! I to have that gene-LOL!
And, what an amazing wedding-HOLY CANOLI!

  6. I am so with you about summer being over! I am a tad jealous that you'll be in CT for the fall though. We don't have 'seasons' in FL - it's pretty much hot all.the.time. My hubby is from MA and I'm from NY so hopefully life will lead us back there one day soon. It's too hard to leave our moms at the moment :)

Chipotle is my absolutel favorite. I kid you not that I eat it about 3 times a week. I will never be super-skinny, LOL!

Crazy wedding!! Whatever makes one happy :)

  7. We LOVE Chipotle here too!!!
Found you through Miscellany Monday- & I'm really glad I did- I appreciate this peek into your lives! What great birthday ideas you had too- happy birthday to your sweet little one!!
    Have a wonderful day!!

  8. I have never been to Chipotle we do not have one here in WV but when we travel I will take a looksy for one! Fall is my fav season too and um Target has some awesome finds in there dollar bins lately especially for back to school :0)

WOW that wedding sounds beyond fab

  9. I have the man.sweat gene too! *hate*
Can't believe school supplies are out even though school does start in 3 weeks here. *denial*
Taking 2012 off the list : ) *thanks*
    Trader Joe's & Chipotle *yum*
    happy monday!

  10. I've been hearing about this Chipotle alot and we have one near us...I have a love for Mexican, so I must try! And that wedding...SERIOUSLY???

  11. I could not live anywhere where all I did was sweat. Menopause takes care of that perfectly for me right now!

I don't think I would survive without Trader Joes or Chipotle, both of which I visit frequently.

WOW, talk about Wedding Extravaganza! I mean, if I had the money I don't think I would spend $37,000 on something to drink! But wow, I would have loved to have been in the crowd just to see it all.

    Happy Monday!

  12. I've never been to Chipotle but I see it all the time!! I've also never been to trader joes! My best friend lives in Connecticut and says there's a mexian place called Desert Moon Cafe that's amazing too. Do you have one of those around there?

Visiting from Monday Miscellany! Hope you can stop by ours as well!

  13. I love TJ's too and just realized a few weeks ago that we will have one close to us in RI. We should totally meet up for a Trader Joe's run and lunch sometime!
