I have yet to make a switch to organic, grass-fed meats. I like your idea of re-evaluating what we're eating and beginning to buy less but better for us meats and keeping my eyes open for sales.Kirstinhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/17792132554787453551noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-1058926948643949828.post-28212941617022835042011-10-05T16:57:55.306-07:002011-10-05T16:57:55.306-07:00Am loving your posts Jess! Awesome.
-and-
So, bottom line: when you eat a regular piece of meat, you are eating an animal that most likely stood for hours all day in its own poop while eating toxic food its body wasn’t designed to handle, while being treated for diseases it shouldn’t really have and growing at a rate it was never intended to grow.

Great post!Maryhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/18042984166803797015noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-1058926948643949828.post-71416568184952892022011-10-05T08:53:12.347-07:002011-10-05T08:53:12.347-07:00Wow! We have a brand that I buy that is USDA process verified that they don't use antibiotics ever. The whole chickens (around 4 lbs) are like 8 dollars each....and the chicken breasts are over 5 dollars a pound! I would prefer to buy them from a farm, but they seem like they are never available. Plus from the local farms they are about $15 for the whole bird.

My mom tried to buy a heritage breed turkey from a farm for thanksgiving last year...it was going to be over $80 to feed our whole family.

I do buy all of my beef and pork from a local farm that raises them on pasture. I'm SO thankful to have found them here in WV! They actually are really close to me too!

I hope more people get into buying healthy meats soon so the price will drop. It is still worth it to buy from local farms. I'd rather pay more and support them rather than Wal-mart.Mrs. Crouch https://www.blogger.com/profile/13780747737910814037noreply@blogger.com
